NASA's Earth Venture portfolio, within the Earth System Science Pathfinder Program, offers recurring, competitively selected Earth-science investigations led by principal investigators. Its cost- and schedule-constrained opportunities take three forms: complete orbital missions, instruments delivered for flight on another platform, and suborbital investigations. The programme is designed to respond to emerging scientific questions and demonstrate innovative observing approaches more frequently than larger strategic missions, with science-data analysis, distribution, and archiving forming part of the project lifecycle.
