NASA’s EDGE Earth System Explorer mission will observe the three-dimensional structure of terrestrial ecosystems and the surface topography of glaciers, ice sheets, and sea ice, advancing measurements beyond ICESat-2 and GEDI. Selected for continued development in February 2026, EDGE faces a 2027 confirmation review and a launch no earlier than 2030.
