Einstein Probe is a Chinese Academy of Sciences space-science mission for time-domain high-energy astrophysics, designed to discover and localize transient X-ray sources and explosive cosmic events. Launched on 9 January 2024, the spacecraft entered science operations in July 2024 and was delivered to science users in October 2024. The mission is led by CAS with collaboration from the European Space Agency, the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics, and France’s Centre national d’études spatiales.
