Flexible Levitation on a Track (FLOAT)

NASA TechPort describes FLOAT as a completed NIAC project for an autonomous lunar railway using unpowered magnetic robots and flexible multi-layer tracks. The proposed system would move regolith and payloads over reconfigurable routes with low infrastructure, no moving parts, and reduced lunar-dust wear, supporting long-distance transport for lunar bases and future exploration.
