The On-Demand Multimaterial Manufacturing project pursued hybrid additive-subtractive manufacturing prototypes for demonstration aboard the International Space Station. Its Fabrication Laboratory used bound metal additive manufacturing to extrude a polymer/metal feedstock, remove the polymer, and sinter titanium parts. The project aimed to mature on-demand metal manufacturing in low gravity while supporting recycling, reuse, and lunar-surface logistics reduction; it closed administratively at the end of FY23.
