Kepler Program
NASA’s Kepler Program launched on 6 March 2009 as the agency’s first mission dedicated to finding Earth-sized planets beyond the Solar System. Its continuous transit survey and K2 extended mission monitored more than 500,000 stars, revealed that the Milky Way contains billions of planets, and produced more than 2,600 exoplanet discoveries before the spacecraft was retired on 30 October 2018.
