Landsat Program

Landsat is a joint NASA and U.S. Geological Survey Earth-observation programme providing repeated multispectral observations of the global land surface since 1972. Its successive satellites create a continuing record of natural and human-induced change used by land managers, scientists, and policymakers. The programme extends beyond building and flying spacecraft to processing, distributing, and preserving their measurements; USGS's EROS data centre became central to that archive. Maintaining access to comparable observations across generations is a core part of Landsat's scientific and public value.
