Lunar Environment Monitoring Station

The Lunar Environment Monitoring Station (LEMS) is a NASA Goddard instrument in development: a compact, autonomous, self-powered, self-managed, and self-communicating seismometer suite intended to monitor the Moon's seismic environment continuously through lunar day and night. Designed for long-duration South Pole operations, LEMS will measure ground motion from moonquakes and impacts and help characterize the Moon's crust and mantle for future exploration.
