Mars Orbiter Mission Program

India’s Mars Orbiter Mission, also known as Mangalyaan, was ISRO’s first interplanetary mission. Launched on 5 November 2013, it entered Mars orbit on 24 September 2014 and operated for about eight years, returning significant observations of the Martian surface, morphology, atmosphere, and exosphere before ISRO declared the spacecraft non-recoverable and at end of life in September 2022.
