JAXA’s Martian Moons eXploration (MMX) is a planned international sample-return mission to survey Phobos and Deimos, land on Phobos, collect a sample, and return it to Earth. JAXA leads MMX with NASA, ESA, CNES, and DLR participation; the mission is planned for launch in JFY 2026 and aims to return Phobos material in 2031.
