NASA’s Orbiting Geophysical Observatory Program was a series of six satellites launched between 1964 and 1969 to study Earth’s atmosphere, magnetosphere, and the space between Earth and the Moon. The standardized observatories carried roughly 20 experiments each and extended geophysical and high-energy-astronomy measurements through the final operations in 1972.
