Sentinel Asia is an Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum initiative using Earth-observation technology to support disaster management across the Asia-Pacific region. Established in 2006, it brings space agencies, analysis organisations, international bodies and national disaster-management authorities together to share observations and interpreted damage information. JAXA serves as executive secretariat, while the Asian Disaster Reduction Center receives emergency-observation requests. Data Provider Nodes contribute satellite imagery and Data Analysis Nodes turn observations into useful disaster products. Its phased development began with a shared information backbone, expanded satellite communications and progressed to support for the wider disaster-risk-management cycle. Participating agencies contribute their own satellite observations for floods, landslides, fires, earthquakes and other hazards. GISTDA and PhilSA are among its documented members; PhilSA joined as a Data Provider Node in January 2023. The programme combines continuing operations, regional coordination and technical capacity building across many individual disaster activations.
