SOLAR-1 Program

NOAA’s operational SOLAR-1 space-weather observatory, formerly SWFO-L1, monitors the solar wind and corona continuously from the Sun–Earth L1 point to provide real-time data and advance warnings for protecting critical infrastructure, spacecraft, communications, and national security. It launched on 24 September 2025 and reached its final L1 orbit on 23 January 2026.
