Space Communications and Navigation Testbed (SCaN Testbed)

The SCaN Testbed was an ISS experimental software-defined-radio platform that advanced space communications, navigation, and networking capabilities. It operated for nearly seven years and more than 4,200 hours, developing S- and Ka-band waveforms, GPS and Galileo navigation reception, delay-tolerant networking, on-board routing, and adaptive cognitive-radio demonstrations. The completed project raised software-defined-radio maturity from TRL 4 to 8 and supported infusion into later NASA and commercial missions.
