SPHEREx is an active NASA Astrophysics Explorer space observatory launched on March 11, 2025 to create an all-sky spectral survey in optical and near-infrared light. Over its planned two-year mission it will map hundreds of millions of galaxies and more than 100 million Milky Way stars; JPL manages the mission for NASA.
