Takeoff and Landing Performance Assessment (TALPA)

An FAA runway-safety initiative that reduces runway-overrun risk by helping airport operators consistently assess and report contaminated or non-dry runway conditions. TALPA procedures use runway condition codes and Field Condition (FICON) NOTAMs so pilots, flight planners, operators, and air traffic personnel can relate reported surface conditions to aircraft stopping performance.
