ISAS RVT#4 turbopump-fed experimental engine
This experimental RVT#4 propulsion configuration used an expander-cycle oxygen/hydrogen engine with separate oxidizer and fuel turbopumps. Ground testing investigated deep throttling, startup and repeated operation. JAXA’s March 2009 report describes improved fuel-pump hardware after earlier instability and rotor-damage problems, with higher-thrust control validation still planned.
