NASA Morpheus HD main-engine family

NASA Johnson’s Morpheus main-engine series used oxygen and methane for throttleable terrestrial lander testing. Successive HD configurations explored low-cost impinging injectors, fuel-film cooling and deep throttling. HD4 derivatives powered the flight vehicles; the higher-performance HD5 was evaluated on a Stennis test stand. Shared naming does not make their thrust ratings or flight histories interchangeable.
