NEXT

NASA Evolutionary Xenon Thruster (NEXT) family is a 7-kW-class gridded ion propulsion system evolved from NSTAR for deep-space science missions. NASA NEXT-C evidence records 0.6–7.4 kW input power, 25–235 mN thrust, maximum 4,220 s specific impulse, and 70% efficiency; NEXT-C was demonstrated on DART, and current Advanced NEXT work continues to leverage that technology. This family remains in development and is not presented as an operational fleet product.
