Rolls-Royce Pegasus is an active/in-service vectored-thrust turbofan family that gives Harrier aircraft their unique short-takeoff-and-vertical-landing capability. The latest 11-61 variant provides up to 15 percent more thrust at high ambient temperatures and twice the hot-end life of earlier versions; the engine remains in United States Marine Corps service, is no longer in production, and continues to receive Rolls-Royce aftermarket support.
