Chemical Automatics Design Bureau (KBKhA) RD-0105 is a single-chamber liquid-oxygen/kerosene engine for the Block E third stage of the Luna 8K72 launch vehicle and the first KBKhA engine designed for spaceflight. KBKhA reports 5.04 metric-ton-force (approximately 49.4 kN) vacuum thrust and 316 s vacuum specific impulse. Forty-four engines were produced between 1958 and 1960; RD-0105 powered the 2 January 1959 lunar mission and subsequent early lunar flights before the program ended in December 1960.
