YJSP Prometheus

YJSP Prometheus is the Yellow Jacket Space Program’s kerosene/liquid-oxygen ablatively cooled composite rocket engine. Its silica-epoxy thermal liner erodes during firing while a carbon-fibre/epoxy overwrap carries structural loads. The team reports a dry mass of 25 lb and a design capability of up to 30 seconds at nominal chamber conditions. Prometheus powered the Vespula flight on 11 April 2026. It is a student engine design distinct from ESA/ArianeGroup’s unrelated LOX/methane Prometheus demonstrator.
