ITU Albatros UAV Team

ITU Albatros is an Istanbul Technical University undergraduate UAV project team founded in 2018. Students develop mechanical and avionics subsystems alongside autonomous-flight and aerial-observation software. Its university profile traces Tulpar’s 2018 IMechE UAS Challenge overall championship, Safety and Airworthiness award and best Flight Readiness Review. The Tomris project combined a fixed-wing carrier with a deployed rotary-wing aircraft to locate casualties and deliver aid, earning third place in TEKNOFEST’s 2020 free-mission UAV competition and an encouragement award in 2022. Its Akay aircraft received the 2023 TEKNOFEST combat-UAV Best Design award. University leadership also documented Albatros competing at the 2026 international UAV event in Malatya.
