Minerva Aerodesign is a Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro student aircraft team founded in 2001. Its recurring engineering challenge is to maximize the payload carried by an unmanned aircraft while meeting the competition’s geometry, propulsion and flight constraints. Students use design and analysis software, structurally test materials and prototypes, and manufacture the aircraft. UFRJ’s team profile documents SAE Brasil AeroDesign participation and dated achievements, including an innovative-design award in 2004, a reliability award in 2012 and an Embraer cargo-removal award in 2015.
