Project AREND (Aircraft for Rhino and Environmental Defence) is an ongoing University of Pretoria local student programme within an international multidisciplinary collaboration. Since 2014, UP students have helped design, build and fly an electric fixed-wing UAV for anti-poaching support in South Africa; the project develops product-level aircraft subsystems, autonomous-flight, propulsion, avionics, structural and remote-sensing systems. This row is scoped to the University of Pretoria AREND participation and does not claim sole institutional ownership or operational deployment.
