Japanese national engineering university with dedicated Space Systems Engineering education and internationally recognized hands-on small-satellite development. Its multinational BIRDS program trains graduate students to design, test, launch, and operate CubeSats, while its satellite laboratories and test center support continuing spacecraft research and missions. The Laboratory of Lean Satellite Enterprises and In-Orbit Experiments (LaSEINE) develops satellite testing and verification methods, in-orbit technology demonstrations and international joint missions. Reorganized under its present name in April 2020, it builds on Kyutech's earlier research into spacecraft charging, debris and material degradation, with an emphasis on reducing the cost and development time of small space systems.
