Kenyan public research university whose Faculty of Engineering runs the student-and-faculty NaSPUoN nanosatellite platform and whose Department of Geospatial and Space Technology teaches and researches satellite positioning, remote sensing, navigation, and related space technologies. A university team developed 1KUNS-PF (First Kenyan University Nano-Satellite—Precursor Flight), the first satellite selected under the UNOOSA–JAXA KiboCUBE programme. It was deployed from the International Space Station’s Japanese Kibo module on 11 May 2018. The project gave the university experience in spacecraft development and operations intended to support further Kenyan Earth-observation missions.
