The University of Tokyo is a national research university whose Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics in the Faculty and Graduate School of Engineering provides integrated education in aerodynamics, structures and materials, flight dynamics and control, propulsion, aircraft, and spacecraft. Its Intelligent Space Systems Laboratory designs, develops and operates small spacecraft. The laboratory's portfolio includes the XI CubeSats, the PROCYON deep-space technology demonstrator and the EQUULEUS CubeSat; it also releases spacecraft flight, simulation and ground-station software through its open-source software project.
