Airbus Vahana Tilt-Wing eVTOL Demonstrator

Vahana was an all-electric, single-seat demonstrator for self-piloted vertical takeoff and landing. Its tandem tilt-wing configuration used eight electric motors to combine vertical flight with wingborne cruise. Airbus used the aircraft to investigate electric propulsion, autonomous hazard detection and the operating and certification questions surrounding urban air mobility. Airbus reports more than 138 full-scale test flights, with the final test flight in November 2019 closing the programme. Vahana was a research demonstrator rather than a certified passenger service.
