AMPTE Charge Composition Explorer magnetospheric spacecraft
NASA's Charge Composition Explorer (CCE) was one of three AMPTE spacecraft launched together on 16 August 1984. The U.S. spacecraft detected tracer ions released by the German Ion Release Module after they entered Earth's magnetosphere, while its plasma, magnetic-field, and energetic-particle instruments studied transport, acceleration, ring-current evolution, and solar-wind access.
