The United Kingdom Subsatellite (UKS) was the third AMPTE spacecraft, launched with the CCE and IRM on 16 August 1984. Built in the United Kingdom, UKS operated near the IRM during barium and lithium releases and measured plasma waves and magnetic-field responses in the solar-wind and magnetospheric environment before failing in orbit in January 1985.
