Augmented Satellite Launch Vehicle (ASLV)

The Augmented Satellite Launch Vehicle was India's five-stage, all-solid intermediate launcher derived from SLV-3. Two strap-on boosters raised low-Earth-orbit capacity to the 150-kilogram class, while four developmental flights from 1987 through 1994 validated strap-on staging, inertial navigation, closed-loop guidance, vertical integration, and other technologies used by later Indian launchers.
