The Augmented Target Docking Adapter was McDonnell's backup orbital rendezvous and docking target for Project Gemini. It combined a docking adapter with communications, guidance and control equipment, running lights, and a reaction control system, but lacked the Agena target's capability to propel a docked spacecraft through orbital maneuvers. Its single flight supported Gemini 9A in June 1966. A partly retained launch shroud blocked the docking port, leaving the target available for rendezvous exercises but preventing docking.
