Avro 504 Aircraft Family

The Avro 504 was a two-seat British biplane family that became one of the defining training aircraft of the First World War and early postwar aviation. First flown in 1913, it initially served in reconnaissance and other military duties before later J and K variants became standard trainers. Its adaptable engine installation, predictable handling, large production run, and extensive postwar use by flying schools carried the design into civil aviation and helped establish systematic primary flight training.
