The Boeing 717 was a twin-engine short-haul airliner developed as the McDonnell Douglas MD-95 and renamed after the Boeing merger with McDonnell Douglas. Based on the Douglas DC-9 lineage, the 717-200 served the high-frequency 100-passenger market before production ended in 2006. This family retains its MD-95 design lineage without merging it into the earlier DC-9, MD-80, or MD-90 families.
