Boeing X-20 Dyna-Soar Reusable Hypersonic Spaceplane Family

The Boeing X-20 Dyna-Soar was a canceled reusable hypersonic spaceplane program intended to launch a piloted lifting-body glider on a modified Titan booster, conduct military reconnaissance and related missions in near-space, and return to a runway landing. Although the vehicle never reached flight, the 1957-1963 program advanced hypersonic reentry, thermal protection, guidance, and pilot-control technology that influenced later research vehicles and the Space Shuttle.
