The Boeing X-32 was a pair of concept-demonstrator aircraft developed for the multinational Joint Strike Fighter competition. The X-32A demonstrated conventional takeoff and carrier-approach qualities while the X-32B explored short-takeoff and vertical-landing requirements; together they tested a common multirole design approach before the competing Lockheed Martin X-35 was selected for full-scale development.
