The Boeing X-50A Dragonfly was a DARPA/Boeing unmanned canard rotor/wing technology demonstrator designed to combine helicopter-like vertical takeoff and landing with fixed-wing cruise. The first prototype completed its first hover flight at Yuma in December 2003; the two-prototype program explored stopped-rotor transition, thrust diversion, and high-speed rotorcraft concepts before the test effort ended.
