The Bombardier CRJ Series is a family of Canadian regional jets derived from the Challenger business-jet platform. It began with the 50-seat Canadair Regional Jet and grew through the larger CRJ700, CRJ900, and CRJ1000, helping make frequent jet service practical on routes whose demand did not support mainline airliners. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries acquired the programme in 2020, and MHIRJ now provides engineering, maintenance, parts, and fleet support for CRJ operators.
