Clementine, also called the Deep Space Program Science Experiment (DSPSE), was a joint U.S. lunar technology-demonstrator and science spacecraft launched in 1994. It mapped the Moon including the polar regions and tested lightweight sensors and spacecraft components; a planned asteroid encounter was canceled after a propulsion malfunction.
