The Convair XF-92A Dart was America’s first delta-wing jet aircraft and a unique experimental research family. Built by Consolidated-Vultee and completed by Convair as Model 7002, the aircraft first flew in 1948 and then supported Air Force and NACA flight research into delta-wing stability, supersonic handling, and propulsion; its experience directly informed the F-102 and F-106 interceptor programs.
