The Convair XF-92A was the first jet aircraft to fly with a delta-wing configuration, serving as a sole turbojet-powered flight-research prototype after the original ramjet-and-rocket XP-92 interceptor concept was canceled. Air Force and NACA test pilots flew the aircraft from 1948 until 1953, and its delta-wing research directly informed the later F-102 interceptor.
