The Mirage III is a French single-engine delta-wing supersonic aircraft family developed by Dassault for interception and adapted into strike, reconnaissance, and two-seat training variants. Its compact area-ruled airframe became Western Europe's first operational Mach 2 aircraft and supported a wide export family including the Mirage 5 and Mirage 50. More than 1,400 aircraft in the combined lineage served across 21 countries.
