Deep Impact spacecraft
NASA’s Deep Impact spacecraft released an impactor into comet 9P/Tempel 1 on 4 July 2005, providing the first direct observations of a comet interior; its flyby spacecraft was later reused for the EPOXI mission and encountered comet 103P/Hartley 2 in 2010.
