Dornier Do X Flying Boat

The Dornier Do X was a twelve-engine giant flying boat created to demonstrate the possibility of luxurious transoceanic air travel at the end of the 1920s. Its all-metal hull, broad high wing, tandem engine pairs, ship-like flight deck, and multi-deck passenger spaces made it one of the largest and most ambitious aircraft of its era. Only three were built, but the Do X became a defining early experiment in very large passenger aircraft.
