Energia was the Soviet super-heavy launch vehicle developed for large orbital payloads and the Buran reusable orbiter. The two-stage side-mounted-payload architecture used four RD-170-powered strap-on boosters around a hydrogen-fueled core with four RD-0120 engines and flew twice, in 1987 and 1988.
