Explorer 55, also known as Atmosphere Explorer-E (AE-E), was a NASA upper-atmosphere research satellite launched on November 20, 1975. Its instruments investigated upper-atmosphere composition, density, temperature, ozone, energy transfer, and related ionospheric processes; SPDF’s merged archive covers science data from December 11, 1975 through June 6, 1981 before atmospheric reentry.
