The Fiat G.91 was a compact Italian jet developed for NATO's NBMR-1 requirement for a light strike aircraft able to operate from austere fields. After winning the competition it served with Italy, West Germany, and Portugal in fighter-bomber and reconnaissance roles, and later spawned the two-engine G.91Y and the Frecce Tricolori's G.91PAN display aircraft.
