Firefly Alpha is an active U.S. two-stage small orbital launch-vehicle lineage built from carbon-composite structures and powered by LOX/RP-1 tap-off-cycle engines. Alpha first flew in 2021, reached orbit on its second launch in 2022, demonstrated a 24-hour tactically responsive launch in 2023, and completed seven flights in its initial configuration before Firefly's planned transition to Block II.
