Grumman F4F Wildcat Carrier Fighter Family

The Grumman F4F Wildcat was a carrier fighter family whose monoplane XF4F-2 and later XF4F-3 development established the rugged design that became the United States Navy and Marine Corps primary fighter during the first year and a half of the Pacific War. Grumman production and Eastern Aircraft derivatives carried the family through the war and allied service.
